Hello! Since a lot of you loved to read my first collaboration post with Petra from Adjusting Beauty blog, I decided to post another one! This time me and a fellow blogger Rebeka from My Little Wonderland blog decided to post about our top five spring products! Rebeka joined the blogging waters last summer, so she's kinda new but already kicking and rocking the beauty world, posting mostly reviews of beauty products you should really check out!
As spring is the main topic of almost every conversation lately we thought we would post a collaboration where we could talk about our top five beauty related products for spring! I expected this will be hard for me and that there's no way I can narrow it down o just five products. But well, I did it and it was really easy!
As spring approaches I usually get more into darker lips and lighter eyeshadows, even though darker lips are more of winter thing for most people. However this year is not my usual! I am very much into lighter shades on my eyes and lips as well! This eyeshadow palette by Bourjois was not really a planned buy, but I just saw it on display and couldn't say no! It's called Smoky Stories quad eyeshadow palette in shade 12 Sau-mondaine and I love the colour combo! I know it may not seem anything special, but to me this was kinda love at first sight! This is actually my fourth quad palette from the Smoky Stories collection and I just can't stop using it! To be honest, I only use three shades as the middle one is actually a very bright glittery shade and mostly suitable for inner corner or special occasions makeup as it's got really big glitter parts. The other three shades I simply love! The lightest and brightest shade may look a bit peachy in the pan but it's really not that strong when applied on my eyelids. It's more milky, creamy bright shade with a nice peachy undertone to it. The other two shades may seem more boring, regular every day makeup, but to me, even though I have a huge collection of eyeshadows, these look simply amazing! The second lightest shade is a nude-ish beige colour with a silvery shine to it. The third shade is the darkest and it looks more like a warm brown shade with tiny golden shimmer to it (the swatch makes it look more dark grey unfortunately), but the finish is more matte than with the first two (or three) shades mentioned - the other shades havea satin finish with s ilvery shine to it, as they have some fine shimmer. Staying power is also very good, especially with Avon eye primer. Anyway, I love all four Smoky stories quads, but this one is my spring favourite!
I was never a big fan of highlighters and such brightening products as I always felt like I was a glitter bomb anyway, my face went oily in matter of minutes right after applying my foundation and adding some more shine and light really didn't appeal to me. In the last six years my skin changed a bit and I can get away with more products on my face or even without any mattifying powder on top. However this spring I am really loving these Oriflame Giordani Gold Illuminating Pearls! These are to die for! They come packaged in a lovely golden cardbox, than in another elegantly designed black and golden round pot ( I would prefer this in a more sturdy packaging, maybe glass one?) with a sponge applicator and inside under the sponge the holy illuminating pearls! The shine these give my face is soo subtle and soo natural it always feels and looks like my skin is juts simply glowing on it's own, no help needed! They have a bit of light perfume like scent, but nothing too overpowering! The pearls come in a light pearly shade, light green shade, light pink and peachy shade and also there are pearls in light golden shade. Altogether create the best healthy glow that you can imagine and you really don't need much to get the desired effect. I apply these with a brush as it's easier to work with a brush than a sponge plus the sponge stays cleaner for a longer time. I know other more expensive brands also offer this kind of product, I think Guerlain is most famous for their Meteorites pearls, but this is very good as well, and I feel like it's also glam and fancy enough that I don't feel the need for a more expensive product. The staying power of these pearls is also very good, I can see the effect for at least 6 to 8 hours, depends how hot it is and what foundation I use, sometimes I can feel my face melting really fast so the effect of these pearls depends mostly on the base.
If you follow me and read my blog regularly you probably already noticed I am not big on nail art and such. I do dabble but I'm really just too lazy to learn more. From time to time I get to try a nail polish that really impresses me and I just can't stop wearing it! This spring I loved pink nail polishes which you can check out in my pink spring blog post, but there is also this one shade I just can't get enough of it - Essie nail lacquer in shade Lapiz of Luxury! It's such a lovely bright blue shade, vibrant, not too pale, not too dark! it's easy to apply it, the bursh is just fine, a regular one. The texture is just right, not too runny and dribbly! I usually only need one coat to apply this! What really impressed me was the lasting power! I never had much luck with Essie polishes, so I stopped purchasing them and I told everyone not to buy these for me as they just don't do anything for me. Well this year my nails seem to be in a better shape and I can confirm these really do last well. First three days went with almost no chipping, which is superb for me! Nail polishes tend to break on me in a matter of one to two hours after applicaton. Did I mention the shade is amazing?!
I'm a big fan of all lip related products and as mentioned earlier I tend to use darker shades on lips in spring time, no idea why, but my lips just feel better with a strong colour on. This spring I was really loving the pinks, then I got obssesed with peachy and apricot shades and also with some hot strong strawberry shades! I finally got my hands on Sephora Cream lip stain in shade 03 Strawberry Kissed! Dear God/Satan, (whichever you prefer)! Boy, I was missing out! I had no idea this was going to be such amazing product! I love the shade, the application, the texture, scent, how it feels on my lips, the matte finish, the staying power - basically everything! It's a lovely bright pinky red shade, with a strong red undertone and to me this seems more like a warm shade suitable more for warmer skin tones. The effect this has on my face and the whole look is just divine! It makes me look instantly put together, it's a strong shade so it can be worn with almost no eye makeup or with a more defined eye makeup and it's not gonna look too heavy, it brightens up my face in the best possible way! This is truly an amazing first-class gem in my lip stash and I hope I will be able to get my hands on some more shades. The feature that everyone seems to talk most about it is the lasting power - I can eat, drink, eat again, talk, lick my lips constantly, apply some lip balm over the top if I feel like it and it's still there! Fully covering and rocking!
Last product from the top five spring products is well, an easy one! I knew I wanted to include this one the moment I started talking about this post with my fellow beauty blogger Rebeka. It's just something I can't get over with! I was invited to the presentation of the new collection Le Couvent des Minimes called Eau Sereine some time back, you can read more about it here, and there is where I fell in love with the new botanical cologne of serenity! It's a perfect mix of lavander and mandarine scent and I just can't get over how amazingly fresh this is! There are also added notes of bergamote and cedar scent, so this is more fresh and floral than fruity! The mandarine scent gives it a beautiful balance and complements other scents well! I love to use this as my daytime perfume, even though it's a cologne. It's not that strong, it's not overpowering and can be applied more heavily, especially if you want to last it longer. On me this doesn't last very long, which is very unfortunate as the bottle is made of glass and quite heavy, containing 100 ml of product, which I prefer not to carry with me at all times. Anyway the scent is soo amazing I can not stop wearing this! And after almost two months of using this I still love it, I am not bored with it at all! Anyway, if you are into fresh scents this is perfect for you and for this spring! The other perfume I must mention, because I love it just as well is by Oriflame - Delicate Cherry Blossom and it's not as fresh as this one, more floral and sweet but just as amazing!
What would you choose to be your top five spring products? I must say I really love all of these five and even though there have been so many amazing new spring launches these impressed me the most!
I want to thank Rebeka for doing this collab post with me! If you want you can follow her also on Facebook, Instagram and Bloglovin! Don't forget to check out her post here!
