Review: Essence - Liquid lipstick in 06 Make a statement

Hello! Just a quick stop before I go all Christmas-y and such... Every brand seems to be offering liquid lipsticks lately  and Essence released five shades this Autumn. These promise to be a 2 in 1, give you the coverage of a lipstick and a shine of a lip gloss. The packaging reminds me a lot of Dior Fluid Stick, with a  lipstick bullet shape within the centre. This Essence Make A Statement liquid lipstick has waited for so long to be talked about! Really, I tried to post about it sooner but oh well, here we are! Have you already tried these lipsticks?

Packaging, price - The packaging is clear plastic, sturdy and won't break even if it falls. This is actually very good for me, I tend to drop stuff on a regular basis. It contains  4 ml of product and once opened lasts for another 18 months. The applicator is classic, doe-foot, it's maybe a bit more narrow than usually, but that just helps you get a more precise application. Price is about three euros, I think.

Texture, application, scent, longevity -  This has a nice formula, it's not sticky, but it is a bit heavy on my lips. It doesn't crease or stick to my dry patches which I like a lot! Application is easy, applies more like a gloss and is very opaque, one layer of this could be enough. It's got a slight scent, sweet one and also tastes a bit sweet. Doesn't bother me thou. It's not  a long lasting product and on me this lasted for about an hour or maybe two, but it doesn't survive eating or drinking. However it wore off evenly,  faded well and didn't leave any patches or such. If you don't mind reapplying this regularly, than you should give it a go!

Shade, pigmentation, finish - The shade variety is actually pretty limited, so I chose the darkest shade as this one was the only one I really liked, it's called 06 Make A Statement. It's a red(ish) - brown  shade. I find the shade perfect for warmer skin tones. Pigmentation is really good, I am impressed that I only need one layer to get the full shade and even at that! The finish is glossy, shiny. Some may describe these as more of a pigmented lip gloss than a liquid lipstick and I would agree with them. The shade does leave a stain on your lips after wear, so even when you eat and such and it wears off, you still have a bit of shade on you. The swatches are a bit lighter than the actual shade, but still I must say the shade on me looks this light and not at all the dark berry redish brown shade it looks in the packaging. Anyway, it's the darkest shade available from the bunch.

I hope this post was helpful to you! If you liked it, I would be very happy if you also shared it!

Spring/Summer lips with Essence!

Hello! Lets talk some lippies! I have prepared for you a picture heavy post with my favoruite spring/summer lippies by Essence. I picked out four lipsticks and three, well actually four lip glosses, but I fogot to include it at the beginnig, so you will notice in the middle of my post another lip gloss, hehe :P

Let's start with the lip glosses :) I have chosen three (plus one) :D These are the ones I am wearing most this spring/summer (almost summer to be exact). The first one is a lovely everyday nude shade  the XXXL Nude lipgloss in shade  06 Soft Almond. Than we have a shade that's been discontinued, it's XXXL Shine Lipgloss in shade 25 Bright side of life and the last one you see here on these pictures was actually my Santa surprise from a fellow blogger - lovely Ana from Beautysaur blog  - and it's XXXL Longlasting lipgloss in shade 14 Make a statement.

As you can see on the swatches all three give fair amount of colour, at least on the swatches, but on the lips especially the Make a statemnt one, look more gentle and less pigmented. Anyway I find these three really great for the spring/summer season as one shade is a lovely nude that fits all and can be combined with almost every look, the second shade is a very bright pop of colour, stands out a bit but still really brightens my face and compliments my skin. For days when you really feel in a very good mood :P The last one of the trio is actually a lovely pink, but again subtle enough to be worn with practically anything and still gives a lovely touch to the lips and emphasizes them.

The forth lipgloss I actually forgot to add in the beginning is one of the shades I was soo looking forward to purchasing last autumn, but got lucky enough to receive it at Cosnova Essence&Catrice blogger event. It's XXXL Shine lipgloss in shade 33 Fabulous Fuchsia. This shade is the most opaque of them  all, really strongly pigmented and gives such a strong statement lip! I really love it and it's really not my usual colour!

Texture wise all four lipglosses are actually pretty good, and the application is easy and mostly I just need one swipe and I'm ready to go. Especially loving the shades, really just perfect for any occasion or better any mood I'm in. :P

And next are four lipsticks I have been using most and I feel like are perfect for the light and fresh spring season and even for summertime :) I have chosen two from the latest range, I Love Nude, and I chose shades 03 Come Naturally and 05 Cool Nude. I have actaully already posted about these two on my blog, you can check the review here :) The other two shades I havve had in my lipstick stash for a long time but never really got around to post about them. They are 06 Barely there! and 05 Dare to be nude.

From left to right: Barely there, Dare to be nude, Come Naturally and Cool Nude

The second two shades I have chosen, Barely there! and Dare to be nude may seem really gentle colour and because they are just that I felt like they were very versatile and I could use both shades on a daily basis and for every occasion. Barely there! is a light medium cream rose-brown lipstick, but still very natural and really flatters me. On the lips it's a more of a pink than brown. Dare to be nude is a creamy tan nude shade with a slight rose undertone to it, but definitely looks the most browny of them all.

Plus is also a smooth, creamy texture, aplication is easy and even, plus they don't dry out my lips. The only downside of these is that they don't last long on me, maybe about two and a half hours , but they definitely don't survive any eating or drinking.. But I don't mind that much, I tedn to check out my lips every 30 minutes anyway :P
